The pilot program was initiated by SCHS employee Toula LeGassick, in conjunction with the Mildura English Language Centre, as part of the Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Oral Health Promotion) she is studying at RMIT in Melbourne.
“People in the community do not realise how important oral health is and how it can impact other medical conditions that they may have,” Ms LeGassick said. “This course has been challenging but very rewarding, especially when you get to influence a person’s view and habits on the importance of their oral health and how it impacts on their health,” she said.
